Medicare Information
Medicare can be complex and often difficult to understand. The Benefits Group provides information directly from Medicare.Gov and CMS. See the documents below:
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older, and certain people under 65 with disabilities.
In many situations, those enrolled in Medicare also have additional health care coverage through an insurer, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield. These cases require the coordination of benefits between insurance plans, or “payers.”
Medicare requires members to complete an Initial Enrollment Questionnaire (IEQ), providing details about other coverages for coordination of benefits purposes. The IEQ can be completed:
- Online at www.medicare.gov or by phone at 855-798-2627
Updates to coordination of benefits information can be made through the Benefits Coordination & Recovery Center (BCRC), Medicare’s partner that manages information regarding other types of insurance coverage, at 1-855-798-2627.
